3-dimensional display preparation
“Projection Mapper is easy to use and very intuitive. It was incredibly quick to actually map onto the display - a matter of minutes, if am honest. Pulling together the content is what took a long time!”
Managing Director of Cobra Simulation, Alexander Bradley
“Making people smile always makes me enjoy the day more. The 3D display was almost the main attraction. The boys and their families loved it."

Projection Mapper in a league of its own

Challenge:
In his spare time Managing Director of Cobra Simulation, Alexander Bradley, coaches an under 11s football team, Bathgate Thistle Reds 2005. Each year the children are recognised for their contribution to the team at the club’s annual Player of the Year event. Not satisfied with a plain projector screen and slide show, Alexander wanted to create something different that would showcase the many great memories recorded but he had very little time and by his own admission, “designers block”.
Solution:
Using Optoma’s Projection Mapper, Alexander created a 3-dimensional display of a football ground, complete with active sponsor billboards around the pitch.
Results:
The display showed moving footage from previous games mixed with still images from events, matches, transitions and animated renders. Even a Subbuteo goal thrown in for fun.

The Challenge

In his spare time Managing Director of Cobra Simulation, Alexander Bradley, coaches an under 11s football team, Bathgate Thistle Reds 2005.  Each year the children are recognised for their contribution to the team at the club’s annual Player of the Year event.

Not satisfied with a plain projector screen and slide show, Alexander wanted to create something different that would showcase the many great memories recorded but he had very little time and by his own admission, “designers block”.

With only four days until the event, Projection Mapper from Optoma was released. Alexander watched the demo videos and the concept was born.

The Solution

Using Optoma’s Projection Mapper, Alexander created a 3-dimensional display of a football ground, complete with active sponsor billboards around the pitch.

He edited three reels of photos, videos and transitions/overlays from the club’s archives and uploaded this content into the Projection Mapper app.  Together with his trusty Optoma HD300X Full HD projector, the clever app allowed him to project onto the three sides of the display.

Projection Mapper can be used to beam multiple images and video onto 3D surfaces – known as projection mapping.  And you don’t have to be a projection expert to use it.

Available for download on the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon AppStore, it is designed for use with a digital projector and is compatible with Android, iOS and Amazon Kindle Fire devices.

The user-friendly interface makes it simple for anyone looking to achieve a professional result. A free content pack with multiple images and videos is included. Additional themed content packs can be purchased or users can use their own images and video content. Multiple image and video formats are supported including high resolution video content.

The Results

The display showed moving footage from previous games mixed with still images from events, matches, transitions and animated renders. Even a Subbuteo goal thrown in for fun.
